Ubuntu on NC20 problem - "Longhaul is currently broken in this configuration"

    Hi

I can't manage to install Ubuntu 9.04 (either net book remix or regular) on my NC20. I get the error

Longhaul is currently broken in this configuration

Busy Box and APIC are mentioned.

I don't get past this on the install. Very frustrating!

I can't manage to compile anything as this is as far as I get. I'm dropped to a prompt with a few commands, like changing file attributes, that won't help me.

    Anyone else get this?

    Cheers

    Neil

Have you read the Ubuntu community documentation on the NC20?
You might have more luck with the text based “alternate installer” installation disk.

The problem is with the Via Chrome9 graphics chipset which is poorly supported, also netbook remix is aimed at Intel Atom netbooks. On the UNR download page under the required specs it lists "An Intel Atom processor", which the NC20 does not have.

Unfortunately on the NC20, I would expect the installation of most Linux distributions to be difficult.

I've got UNR 9.04 running quite happily on my NC20. It was a bit tricky - have a look at the forum thread where I posted some instructions on how to get running.

The graphic chip is a bit of a problem, requiring you to start the install using the fbdev driver. The UNR desktop is unbelievably slow and is best turned off. Performance does improve once the open chrome driver is installed.

Good luck - let me know how you get on.

    Regards
