    Screen Hinge broken :(

    Hi guys,

Im new here so bear with me xD..

I've been using my N510 for about a month and a half now and its been perfect from start to finish... until now...

It seems that the hinge holding the screen in place on the left hand side of the netbook comes loose when i open the screenn... turns out that the screws are loose... but they dont tighten no matter how much i turn them...

has anyone else encountered this problem?

for the record, i use extreme caution when handling and transporting my netbook so its definitely not a case of mishandling.

here's a video of what happens when I open my netbook:

    any suggestions are appreciated. thanks

BARE with you? We will have to start a nudist forum :P

It rather looks like the screws have stripped their threads. Unfortunately, that probably means a return for a replacement I would think. I am sure it could be repaired, but as it is still under warranty then that might be the route to take.

Hopefully it will work out fine, and you won't be without your N510 for too long

I had exactly the same problem. It seems there's a major construction flaw for the 510.
I sent it back to Samsung for repair, and after they begun to tell me it was broken from abuse, I threw a tantrum etc and they finally fixed it under warranty conditions.

But I think it'll do it again. Something's not right with this design, you can "feel" it almost when you open the screen, the shell seems to fight to stay in place, either the screen is too heavy for the hinges, or the hinges themselves are too tight for their own good.
Results: the two parts of the shell begin to develop gaps, and then the hinge begins to come loose, and then finally breaks.

I'm seriously thinking of getting rid of the 510 while it's still in one piece because of that flaw.

It seems that this is seriously a design flaw, my mates n510 is also showing signs of the same problem :/... i hope samsung have a decent solution for this .... even though i doubt it somehow....

Yikes, this doesn't sound good. Anyone else had the same? Anyone else got one and want to defend the build quality?
