Hard reset after booting from the other OS (dual-boot)

Ok, so this seems like a veeeery strange problem. I have N210, latest BIOS (06IJ) completely wipped the HDD installed grub2, win 7 ultimate and backtrack 4 final (linux). If I'm using one OS and decide to boot to the other, while the other OS is loading I get a hard reset and system boots again, taking me to grub again. If I select again the same OS it finaly boots (in windows I get the usual error menu with safe boot option or start normaly because it failed to boot the first time).

So, the "hard reset" appears in both OS, when switching between them. This doesn't happen If I boot in one of them, reboot and boot again in same OS.

    Any ideas?

I'm experiencing the same problem with a NB30 running on W7 starter and Ubuntu remix, this latter installed using Wubi installer.

great to know someone else has the same problem. Any ideas what could be the problem? I think it's the new bios. Any one knows what changed in this new version?

I've read that with NC10 some people had some sort of freezing problem related to SATA disk power save features. I definetly had a HDD restart, you know that because HDD dies and restarts, causing a reboot (hard reboot). I think should be a BIOS problem, is there any site that has a changelog of samsung BIOS versions?

Matias - Samsung don't issue much information about bios updates unfortunately.

This is the best list I know of.

    Hope it helps

Yes that's what I was thinking ... I also visited that site but they don't have anythin for N210 or similar models. I don't know which else should be compatible too

[/quote1267192353]I doubt if other bios's are compatible if that is what you mean and would not recommend trying

We need to find a similar web site listing the later model bios details - if it exists.

completely wipped the HDD installed grub2, win 7 ultimate and backtrack 4 final (linux)
Just a thought - You may have better luck installing Win 7 first before installing Backtrack4.

    Hope this helps

I have a N150 and the same problem.

Problem happens is these changing boot cases:
Windows 7 to another SO (XP, Linux,....)
Another SO (XP, Linux,....) to Windows 7

Problem NOT happens is these changing boot cases:
    Windows 7 to Windows 7
Another SO (XP, Linux,....) to Another SO (XP, Linux,....)

So I think the problem is related only with Windows 7 boot manager or something like this.
