N210 hard drive noise

I just bought the N210. I liked everything about it except for the noise from the hard drive (model: Seagate ST9250315AS). It seems like there is a clicky noise every time the hard drive indicator light blinks. It's not extremely loud, but it's really distracting in a quite environment. Is that normal?? Has anyone had similar problems?

I think it just something you have got to live with I am afraid. The Fujitsu hd in the NC10 used to be very noisy but according to Samsung / Fujitsu it was just a'feature' of the drive. The Western Digital drive I have in my NC10 is virtually silent.

Maybe some sot to manage "acoustics" feature of disk? change to qiet mode?

samsungsamsung - A slight clicking noise is normal for some drives. On one of our NC10's the Western Digital drive clicks faintly on disk access but on the other machine the Samsung drive is totally silent.

well i got clicking noises when i got my n210, my solution wipe hyperspace. The clicking doesn't seem to be caused by hdd damage but rather the head docking hd spin down and startup (or so i believe). I actually think hyperspace is causing this, you can try startup without hyperspace and see if this fixes the clicking OR maybe set the hdd turn off to a longer time time such as 30 mins? <-- will obviously reduce batt life
