    n220, missing key strokes

had my n220 a day now, and i love it except for one thing, i seem to get the problem where key strokes arent always recognised, seems to depend on what i'm doing, replying to forums is the thing i do the most, some like this one are ok, others are a right pain, but i had it in notepad earlier.

is this windowz ting, or the netbook it's self thats the problem, and any way to cure it?

I was just coming here to post the same thing concerning my N210.

I've had my N210 since January when it came out. I don't recall it having this problem at first. It seems to have started when I updated the BIOS. But that might just be coincidence.

It is very frustrating though. I want to love my netbook but if I can't find a solution to this problem I'm going to have to abandon it because it's just not useful to me if I can't type on it.

Interestingly enough, this quick reply box on the forum doesn't appear to suffer from the problem.

Have you checked Task Manager to see what processes are running and what the CPU load is when you experience these problems.

To see if it related to the anti-virus, try temporarily disabling it.

Trying an alternative browser such as Chrome may give different results.

    Hope this helps

i'm running the BIOS 06JI (NOT the latest one) and it has fixed the keyboard key register issue.
Note: When my N210 was purchased in Jan i noticed that when typing very fast it would cause keys to be "skipped/dropped" I do not believe this is a CPU usage issue nor an OS problem (i tested it both on Win7/XP). However after the BIOS update to 06JI problem solved.

Did you guyz experience the key drop issue after the BIOS was updated to O6JI or anything newer such as 08JI or are you on previous vers?

If you want I can link you to the ver i'm which doesn't have this key issue.

McAfee was one of the first things I booted off the system when I bought it in January. I run Microsoft's Security Essentials.

Chrome was the first thing I installed on it back in January.

The task manager does not show anything sucking up clock cycles.

The problem started after I updated the BIOS using Samsung Update Plus. That could be just a coincidence.

Samsung Update Plus updated the BIOS to 05JI and doesn't show that there are newer BIOS available (which is interesting).

Having read blazer's post I've gone to Samsung's website and see there is version 08JI available. I've downloaded it and am about to install it. Hopefully you'll hear back from me shortly with the results.

Well hallelujah! Early results suggest that updating the BIOS to 08JI has resolved the problem.

So apparently there was a problem with 05JI. I wonder why Samsung Update Plus doesn't show any more recent versions? I used it to update the BIOS just a couple of weeks ago and that is when the problem started but I couldn't say for sure it was because of the update.

Anyway, it appears to be working well now. I will post back later in the day with an update. Thanks!
