First Netbook (N210), some suggestions

Hi guys,
just yesterday i bought my first netbook, a Samsung N210 and i need some suggestions from experienced peoples like you.

I've done the initial configuration (included the backup with Samsung Recovery 4) and now i'm in this situation:
Drive C: 108,89GB
Drive D: 108,89GB
Sytem: 100MB
No name: 15GB

In the 15GB partition there's the backup but what's in the 100MB?

I've a licence for a Win7 Home Premium: can i format the HD in order to have only one partition (and then erase the System and the No Name partitions too!)?
Is it suggested or it's better to keep the System and the No Name partitions?
With which software can i eventually do this task?

Which Samsung's software it's worth keeping or reinstalling on the netbook?

Anyway, after removing the McAfee antivirus with his tools i found the netbook faster than expected (based on what i've read on the web), so it's worth to upgrade the RAM to 2GB (after installing a clean Win7)?

The System partition is created by Windows and is used for some features such as BitLocker (if you have Ultimate) and for recovery. Unless you have a good reason to get rid of it, I would keep it.

If you wanted to during the installation of Windows 7 Home Premium you can select all the partitions and delete them, and them tell Windows to create a single partition. Though it will try and create the 100MB partition again. You would need to do the installation from either an external optical drive or a USB memory stick though, and not an in place upgrade.

If you delete the 15GB recovery partition then the Samsung Recovery Solution 4 software will stop working, and will refuse to install again. The F4 at startup to restore the netbook will also not work.

Samsung software wise, I would install all the drivers even if Windows installs it's own generic drivers. As for the rest of the software, a lot of it is useful and doesn't slow the netbooks down much if at all. Though I'd just get the software/drivers from Samsungs website, as that way you will have the latest versions and they don't have much of the unnecessary software available to download.

So you suggest me to install a fresh Win7 HP with all the drivers from the Samsung's site or i can go well with the Starter "tuned"?
I don't mind about SRS4 because all the software is downloadable from their site and games, McAfee, AnyPC, etc don't interest me and for a full backup of the system i can use Ghost or True Image.

you would probably want to UG to 2GB of ram as well ?
I would recommend 2GB of ram for any ver of Win7, since it uses roughly 600+ PF if i remember correctly.
Or you could downgrade to XP if you don't mind the loss of eye candy and stick with the 1GB

One other tip for Win 7 is that it needs some idle time to index and sort itself out.

Install your apps, give it a defrag, reboot, plug your sammy into AC, disable the power savings and let it stand dormant overnight so it has a chance to set itself up. If you keep suspending it after 10 minutes it will take weeks to index and sort out superfetch, and it will appear sluggish.

I've heard of people disabling indexing, but Windows 7 won't index stuff it has already indexed, is much better to give it a chance to index, letting you press the windows key and search for apps much faster.

err, i personally disable all that rubbish indexing. If you are into using search get a program called "Everything" by void tools Freeware of course, it's umm SEARCH ON STEROIDS, takes like 30 sec to index and build small dbase, and allows instantaneous searches Highly recommend that tool
