Buying help needed - NB30 touch or N220

    Hi all

I'm looking for some feedback from owners of the NB30 touch in terms of how they find the touchscreen and whether they feel its worth it.

I've been holding off buying a netbook for a while to save up, and have been focussing on the N220, especially since finding out the UK versions have the Broadcom chip inside them.

Now I've found out about the NB30 Touch which currently is a mere fifteen quid more on Amazon, and I'm finding myself questionning what I want more, HD decoding or the touchscreen... is there anything actually fun/useful/more enjoyable that you gain from having the touchscreen?

I understand that the NB30 is semi rugged, splash proof etc which is bonus, although weighed up against the (in my opinion) nicer style of the N220, this makes no ground - for me the style vs rugged battle cancels itself out so to speak, so that neither gets the edge!

Also, anyone owning the NB30 - don't suppose its got the broadcom as well has it?!?!

Any help, views or comments welcomed

    Thanks in advance all,

    John

Well I've gone for the N220... it seems my want for HD overtook the want for what I felt would be a "faddy" touchscreen. The N220 is in transit, in fact its apparently been delviered and left with a neighbour today... fingers its not been half inched!

john_pawson - Welcome to the forum

I think you will be very pleased with the N220 and you won't get arm ache from touching the screen all the time

If you are interested in the Broadcom HD card there is quite a bit of information from this forum search.

Hope this helps and let us know how you get on.

Thanks for the hellos! I'm loving it, its really great. I have posted a couple of questions that I have about the N220 in my other post here.

Any advice on those subjects would be handy... also I've noticed that my Samsung Update Plus seems to be quite slow - specifically trying to update the Realtek audio driver.... I've tried about 5 times now, leaving it telling me it will update for at least 20 minutes each time, but it never does! Anyone else had trouble with this?

    Thanks again all

    John

    Hi John,

Unless they have fixed Samsung Update Plus then you will find that most people have had problems with it. Updating manually or using DriverMax seems to be the way to go.

I used to work with a touch screen and as someone stated earlier it has put me off getting a laptop or pc with it as i dont think they are very good for your arms. I suppose a laptop may be better than a PC due to the angle you are raising your arms. I supose how long you use it for at a time matters as well.
No doubt its the way of the future but i am going to buy a N220 in the next couple of days.
    Hope you enjoy yours.

It is a fantastic little machine... one more question - it allows me to rotate the display 90 degrees... if i were to do this to read PDF/flash books/comics etc will all the hardware be ok for me to hold it up like a book? If not, whats the point in the rotation?

    Cheers again
