Question Newbie question: Which Samsung netbook model is the latest?

Just joined, and I apologise if this is a dumb question but I have spent the last hour or more reading all the info I could find, including FAQs, and am now more confused than ever! There are so many netbooks out there - I want one running Windows 7, and my particular needs are a long battery life and glare-free screen (10-ish inch) with as good a resolution as possible. I like the Samsungs but am not sure which netbooks are the most up to date, and am drowning in data.

I only need it for simple portable things, mainly typing on Word docs (I have other computers for heavier work & daily internetting). But I want to get whatever is the latest model, in some neutral colour. Any help out there? Thanks - Kev

The Samsung N102 SP Netbook is currently retailing for around £200.00
It has a Battery life of - Manufacturer says 8.5 hrs but is probably no better than 5.00 hrs in reality.

It is so new... replacement batteries are not yet available...

    according to the 'blurb'
Power consumption has been reduced 50x when idle, which is equivalent to an extra 10 days of standby - so it might have a better battery life

The NP-N150 (mine) is quoted at similar hours... and in U.K one can only find (so far) 4400mAhr batteries which give those times..
If you are in USA... and some other countries... there is a 5800 and a 7800mAhr battery available
giving quoted times of 10 to 12 hours but deduct at least 25% for reality

    BOTH have the antireflective screen.....

Thanks for your helpful reply! Since writing yesterday I've been looking at the N145, which seems to be a favourite on the PC World website (East London / Essex is my area) and is still selling as new. I have bigger computers for my daily work and really only want this netbook mainly as a portable device for typing onto Word docs, plus perhaps some email checking & online access to Dropbox (I shall of course firmly resist the lures of Facebook & Twitter, as I'm meant to be working). How does that choice compare? And - what's the difference between N145 and N145 Plus? Or would one of the other Sammys be better for what I want?

I really truly have done my homework & googled around trying to find info on this, but nothing is specific or clear with regard to these questions. I also hit a blank when trying to download a N145 manual from the main Samsung website - they give you these Windows Exe things which then don't work, just saying Error or Data Corrupted. (Why can't they just offer a PDF like everyone else does? What do i need to download an .exe for?) So I apologise for all these questions, but I need a live human being to communicate with and you're the first one I've come across.

Huge thanks for your help -

Me again… I've taken a closer look at the N102 SP which looks like it might be the way to go. But it seems to be a bit difficult to get ahold of - maybe because it's too new. Do you have any idea when it will hit PC World and the general high street dealers?

The Basildon PCW is very handy for me (I don't live there but will be coming over from Ireland around the end of the month to visit family). I see that you seem to be based in the same area - any suggestions for retailers around Basildon/Brentwood/Romford, and estimates as to when the new N102's will become generally available would be great! I only have a limited time-window there, and plan to be well gone by mid July before Olympic fever hits too hard.

It's been incredibly difficult to get any hard info here, and auntie google hasn't been much help either, so thanks again.

Depending on your access to travel facilities... Rail - Brentwood to Stratford
According to the Samsung Website... BOTH the Samsung N102 SP and the N145 Plus are available at...

Ground Level, Westfield Stratford City, Montfichet Road, Olympic Park London, E20 1EJ - Call Store: 02074676070

Westfield is out the station, turn left and left up the stairs... across the bridge and you cannot miss the Mega Mall...
gives you a chance to compare keyboards.

I haven't been able to pinpoint the difference between plus models...
    N145 has Intel® Atom® N450 processor 1.66Gb
    N145 has Intel® Atom® N455 processor 1.66Gb both single core...

I have had an N150 PLUS with N145 single core Atom CPU
and also an N150 PLUS with N550 dual core Atom CPU

even with a dual core N550 CPU I could find NO obvious difference in performance... (!)
