    Hi, i'm new too

I don't know if it's the same for you, but on my N230, I can easly upgrade my memory (RAM) by unscrewing a compartment on the bottom. This should help, but you have to get new RAM (and be carefull with compatibilty issues, I'm not a professional and I don't know if netbokos have special RAMs )

But the fact is your netbook has a short life. Netbooks don't often works more than 2 years (planned obsolecence or not, I don't know). Is it worth to spent money to boost such a computer? That's my opinion, but your free to do what you want with you samsung ^^

Look at your netbook's backside to see if you have the same memory compartment accessible !

    Bye.

    conwy,

    welcome to the forum.

Nothing is going to make an Atom based netbook "run like the wiind" but you can tweak it a bit to help a little.

First thing is add the extra memory to 2G total. This wont make a vast difference and wont make games run faster, but will help depending on how you use your netbook. For example, if you have multiple windows open and switch between them, or have large documents open in word etc.

The other thing is remove unwanted software and change the AV package you use to a 'light weight' one. My N220 came with Mcafee and I removed this and replaced it with MSE which seemed to help a little I think. Have a search on the forum for posts concerning this.

Finally, and I've not tried it, but people who have changed the Netbooks harddrive for a SSD (Solid-state drive), seem to report it speeds things up quite a lot. But a) there is a cost to this, and b) it will invalidate any warranty. Again have a search as there are posts on the forum which mention this as well.

conwy - Welcome to the forum

For general speed up tips have a look at this thread. Although it's for the NC10 much of it will be applicable to the N220.
To keep it in tip top running order run Ccleaner and Auslogics Disk Defrag regularly (both free programs) and change the anti virus to MSE.
Upgrading the ram to 2GB will make the overall experience a bit smoother but only makes a real difference when programs are run concurrently and/or multiple browser tabs are open.

    Hope this helps
